MBALE: Three people have been confirmed dead after a YY bus crashed in a road accident along the Mbale-Tirinyi highway.
The North Bukedi Regional Police Spokesperson, Immaculate Alaso, says that the incident happened at Saala village in Kibuku district on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at around 8 p.m.
The regional police mouthpiece asserts that the YY bus registration number UBG 400C driver while coming from Kampala to Mbale, lost control and overturned the vehicle several times.
She has identified the deceased as Muhamed Ntege, the bus driver and resident of Namakwekwe ward, Northern City Division in Mbale City, and two minors who have not yet been identified.
The police officer adds that a number of other passengers, who have yet to be identified, suffered serious injuries and are currently being admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
‘’We have commenced the investigations into the cause of the accident,’’ she said.
