After endorsing Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Thanksgiving gathering, singer Hajara Namukwaya alias Spice Diana has come under fire on social media.
Muhoozi, through MK Movement, will host a Thanksgiving performance in the Kabale district on April 19, 2023, to commemorate the reopening of the Uganda-Rwanda border.
Some of the city’s best musicians are said to have been paid to perform at the event as part of the celebrations. Spice Diana is one of them, and she has verified her attendance via a promotional video.
Spice Diana is seen promoting and endorsing the said event in a video making the rounds on social media.
“On April 19, I will join Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the special border-opening Thanksgiving…and I will perform all of your favourite hits,” he says. In the recording, Spice Diana stated.
Her actions, however, have not gone down well with some music fans, particularly followers of National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
They accuse Spice Diana of endorsing an event organised by Muhoozi, whom some NUP supporters view as their leader’s archrival.
Spice Diana has since received a deluge of comments accusing her of ‘backstabbing’ Kyagulanyi. Some, on the other hand, see no offence in her performing at the gathering.
It should be noted that Spice Diana has long been a favourite of the Kyagulanyi family and the NUP.
Bobi Wine and his wife both supported and attended Spice Diana’s concert earlier this year.
Some say she ‘betrayed’ Kyagulanyi by agreeing to perform at an event arranged by the Muhoozi group.
