Gogonyo County Member of Parliament in Pallisa District, Derrick Orone also known as “Etasuro” on Wednesday, May 2023 donated 1000 mattresses, 1000 blankets, 1000 basins, 1000 bed sheets and other scholastic materials that include books, pens to the pupils of Gogonyo constituency in Pallisa District.
According to Orone, the donated items will not be enough for all the pupils in Gogonyo. “ I want my people to know that I am committed to making sure every pupil in Gogogyo becomes a beneficiary so this will be given out as I continue lobbying for more,” Orone said. He also confirmed that the long-awaited fundraising will take place on Friday in Gigonyo.
During the delivery of these items to the beneficiaries at the Kaukura sub-county in Pallisa, Orone said that the donation is intended to improve the academic standards in Gogonyo County in the Pallisa district. “This has been successful with the help of my friends and working partners whom I lobbied from” Orone added.
Beneficiary parents, including John Ogaram and Janet Akello, commended the legislator for the initiative, saying that it will reduce the cost of sending children to secondary school.
John Solomon Okanya the LC3 Kaukura sub-county says the people who entrusted the MP Derrick Orone with their mandate have nothing to regret since the MP is delivered not only in the county but also in the Parliament of Uganda.
Martine Okolong a parent could no hide his excitement “I am very happy that the MP is spearheading education because as of now the education standards in Gogonyo is not and I want to ask God to continue guiding him” exited Okolong said.
Sam Amukun a pupil in Goginyo County say though he has not received it yet he is grateful to the MP who has put their education a priority.
Gogonyo County under the leadership of MP Derrick Orone will tomorrow Friday 19 May 2023 hold a fundraising function that is expected to raise money to better service delivery in the County. The Chief guest will be the speaker of the Parliament of Uganda Rt Hon Annet Anitah Among Magogo.
Pallisa district has long been performing poorly both in secondary and primary that locals keep blaming the leaders for failing to better the education system.
