A man has been fined 10,000 shillings after pleading guilty to stealing sausages from a supermarket in Nairobi’s central business district.
Polycarp Bwire on Tuesday admitted to stealing five packets of sausages, all valued at Ksh.1,545, from Naivas Supermarket along Muindi Mbingu Street.
He committed the offence on April 21.
In his mitigation, he told the court that he is asthmatic and confessed to selling the stolen items to make profits.
The prosecution told the court Bwire was arrested at the exit door by the security personnel and they established that he is a serial shoplifter.
He has previously been arrested for having stolen various items and released after being warned by the Naivas Supermarket management, the court heard.
