The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has published the names of Karamoja Affairs Minister Mary Goretti Kiututu’s close family members who are currently on the run.
This was revealed by Josephine Namatovu, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, on Thursday, April 6th, while in the Anti-Corruption Court, where Kitutu was charged and remanded to Luzira Prisons.
Namatovu told the court presided over by Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro that Kitutu’s son, Philemon Weganga, Jeniffer Amongin (sister-in-law), Lydia Namutosi (niece), Steven Wabwire (nephew), and Winfred Ndagire are close family members. (daughter-in-law).
Namatovu stated that the five are collaborators and primary suspects in the case in which Kitutu is accused of causing the loss of public property by diverting iron sheets intended to benefit the Karamoja Community Development Program.
The prosecution claims that Kitutu diverted the iron sheets for her own advantage and the benefit of Third Parties while knowing that such conduct would result in the loss of public property.
