A police officer attached to the Naguru headquarters was lynched in Budaka by a furious mob.

Wakulu Sedulaki, a resident of Lyama Village, Lyama Sub County, in the Budaka District, was murdered on the evening of 9 April 2023.

According to Immaculate Alaso, the police spokesperson for the North Bukukeddi region, the incident occurred last night at 4:00 a.m. in Nampagala village, Lyama Sub County, Budaka district.

According to Alaso, a resident found the deceased non-uniformed and standing in front of Ivan Okoboi’s store last night.

The resident, suspecting he was a thief, raised the alarm, attracting the attention of others who responded with pangas, stones, poles, and bricks, among others.

She added that during the incident, the deceased fled but was pursued by the throng, which continued to beat him despite his identification as a police officer by showing them his ID.

However, police have cautioned the public against breaking the law, stating that an investigation has been launched to apprehend those in violation.
